KDP Committees
The KDP Committees bring to life the Four Points of the Main Street Program. Their goals and objectives are outlined here. To join a committee, please contact Jacquie Alexander at kdp@kentdowntown.org or the Committee Chairs listed below.

Organization Committee (Board of Directors)
Executive Director: Jacquie Alexander-(253) 813-6976)
Goal: Provide leadership that builds awareness and cooperation among the downtown community. Develop leadership and improve the way downtown is organized. Bring together the concerns of various groups that have a stake in downtown.

Objectives:

• Create and implement a strategy to increase funding base
• Improve two-way communication with stakeholders
• Increase membership and volunteer involvement
• Build stronger relationship with retailers and restaurants
• Develop a vision statement for downtown
• Complete website

Promotion Committee
Committee Chair: Lee Anderson-(253) 370-9432
Goal: Promote the downtown as the community's social, cultural, and economic center. Market an enticing image of downtown to shoppers, retailers, investors, and potential visitors.

Objectives:

• Create, support and promote downtown events
• Create an awareness of what is in downtown Kent to our fellow merchants, business owners and employees.
• Promote an image of downtown Kent that will entice our buying public
• Bring customers from Kent Station to the historic downtown

Design Committee
Committee Chair: Mark Albertson-(253) 852-8772 x319
Goal: Provide a clean, attractive, and safe downtown environment. Provide thoughtful attention to all elements of the downtown's appearance: building, signs, window displays, store displays, and public areas.

Objectives:

• Encourage rehabilitation of historic buildings
• Improve pedestrian connections and amenities
• Improve public and private signage
• Clean and maintain downtown
• Improve the appearance of gateways and railroad corridors [in downtown]
• Work with property owners and businesses to create visually attractive interiors and exteriors

Economic Development Committee

Goal: Strengthen downtown's economic base. Improve the economic appeal of the downtown by retaining and strengthening existing small businesses, recruiting new business to diversify the mix, and developing downtown properties.

Objectives:

• Develop and implement a recruitment plan and package for purpose of building a stronger business mix.
• Develop a business retention strategy

Annual Dinner

Auction Committee

Responsible for soliciting items for our Annual Dinner/Auction

Stages this popular quarterly networking event

Membership Committee

Responsible for reaching out to members, staging membership campaigns and helping with recruitment of members

Safety & Security

Identifies and resolves all safety & security issues related to the downtown retail and business core.
